Making a good ARPG feels like it is both easier and harder than we might think from the outside. In the process, it gained a PC open beta and cross-play, and now, with the released product on virtual shelves, we can discuss it openly.
The game has conspicuous roots, being a title largely made by NetEase with Blizzard collaborating, down to the use of NetEase tools and technology that have been spruced up to feel “Diablo-like.” The game has been a long time coming, with nearly 4 years passing from that initial reveal (and one of the only times the game has had any major coverage) until it launched earlier this month. The game’s announcement, as the marquee announcement at Blizzcon 2018, lives in infamy. Sadly, that's the only F2P mobile game I've come across that's like that.Diablo Immortal is an albatross around the metaphorical neck of Blizzard Entertainment. After 7 years this game is regularly number 1 on ghe app store and still gets supported with new content. A F2P game that doesn't FORCE your players to spend money on them to experience it all is the most successful and lasts the longest. Because that's how it's done right, and they should be rewarded. So every now and then I do throw a few bucks at it. That kind of game makes me want to support it. In fact, there's an entire community that calls themselves the "free to play" guys and they never spend anything on the game, and still have good enough characters to beat even the hardest content. And, every multi summon gives you a guaranteed SSR level character. And every time new characters drop, I have enough gems to summon enough times that I almost always get the new character. To the point that I have nearly all of the best characters in the game. And the percentage rate of getting rare and Legendary characters is fully acceptable. It's updated monthly, sometimes even sooner. But it gives you PLENTY of gems (in game currency) just from playing the game. However, I've had the game since launch 7 years ago. You know what's crazy?
